Reporting Small Business Rate relief changes

Certain changes in circumstances will need to be notified to the local authority by the ratepayer (other changes will be picked up by ourselves).

The changes which must be notified, are:

  • The ratepayer taking up occupation of a property they did not occupy at the time of making their application for relief
  • An increase in the rateable value of a property occupied by the ratepayer in an area other than the area of the local authority which granted the relief

You must tell us about any such changes within four weeks of the change happening. If you don’t your relief will be cancelled from the date of the change to the date you tell us about it. Remember it is a criminal offence to make a false claim.

If you believe that your business is eligible to receive Small Business Rates Relief, you can apply by downloading a Small Business Rates Relief application form or contact us via telephone on 01522 873342 or email us revenues@lincoln.gov.uk.
