Council Services:

National Apprenticeship Week

We take part in National Apprenticeship Week every year to promote the successful apprenticeship scheme that we run, as well as using our apprentice’s skills to give back to the community.

Every year the apprentices take part in fundraising, whether that be a dress down day or a cake sale, to donate money to a charity chosen by them. In the past few years money has been raised for the local charities such as Nomad Trust and Lincoln Integrated Domestic Abuse Services (LIDAS).

The apprentices have organised and taken part in many different events over the last few years:

  • Shadowing - the apprentices have shadowed staff within the council such as officers and managers. There have even been opportunities to shadow the Leader of the Council. They attend meetings either internal or external, to observe what takes place in meetings involving the council. Some apprentices have even had the chance to shadow our solicitors in court!
  • A mock CMT with the Chief Executive - this is where the apprentices have had the chance to role play the types of scenarios that the council faces and the decisions that have to be made by the directors and Chief Executive
  • Work with charity - LIDAS received help from apprentices to refurbish a family room and a playroom with the money that they raised from a dress down day and a cake sale. In the past, money raised has been directly donated to the charity
  • Alcohol awareness campaign - with the help of ‘beer goggles’, alongside a car simulator to show the affects of alcohol misuse, apprentices worked with the anti-social behaviour team to educate young people in the community

National Apprenticeship Week 2013

National Apprenticeship Week is taking place between Monday 11th March - Friday 15th March. It is co-ordinated by the National Apprenticeship Service. It is designed to celebrate Apprenticeships and the positive impact they have regarding their achievements, on individuals and on businesses and to increase the awareness Apprenticeships bring to employers and young people.
