How we can help
Benefits Advice Service
The Benefits Advice Service is a team of experienced advisors who give comprehensive and confidential advice on all social security benefits, Tax Credits, grants, loans and discretionary payments.
Help with claim forms
We can help you to get the correct claim form and, where necessary, guide you through completing it. The rules for claiming benefit require a fully completed claim form. If questions are not answered, or are answered incorrectly, you could lose some of your benefit. If you need help completing the application form you can contact us on 01522 873382 and we can make an appointment for you to come into City Hall where one of the team will complete the form for you, alternatively if you are unable to come to City Hall we can visit you in your own home.
Calculation of Benefit Entitlement
Many people do not realise that they are entitled to benefits. They miss out because they don’t know that a particular benefit exists, or else they think that they have too much money coming in or too much in the bank to qualify. In fact, many benefits are paid no matter how much you have coming in. Means-tested benefits increase their rates regularly, and people who didn’t qualify for benefits such as Council Tax Benefit in the past, may now qualify.
