Council Services:

Where your Council Tax goes

We have a set General Fund budget requirement of £16.4 million to maintain services and meet priorities.

Although we collect Council Tax, we only retain around 16 per cent of it. The remainder is passed on to Lincolnshire County Council and the Police Authority.

From each £1 collected 69 pence will go to Lincolnshire County Council to pay for services such as Education, Social Services, Waste Disposal, Libraries, Fire and Rescue.

16p from each £1 collected will go to Lincolnshire Police to pay for the Police services.

15p of every £1 goes to the City of Lincoln Council. The range of services provided includes: Refuse Collection, Markets, Recycling, Planning, Street Cleaning, Public Health, Business Growth, Parks and Leisure Facilities, Tourism, Pollution Control, Bus Passes and much more.

Further information on how your Council Tax is spent can be found in our 2013/14 Council Tax leaflet.
