Chief Executives Directorate

Andrew Taylor - Chief Executive.
The Chief Executive and Town Clerk’s Directorate provides a number of core back office services such as Communications, Policy and Audit.

Several managers report directly to the Chief Executive. They are responsible for important but unique service areas like Neighbourhood Team and our apprenticeship scheme.

Directorate of Resources

Angela Andrews - Director of Resources.
The Directorate of Resources, as the title suggests, is responsible for managing the council’s resources - both financial and otherwise.

‘Business Development and IT’, ‘Human Resources’ as well as ‘Legal and Democratic Services’ all come under this directorate. In addition to these important back office functions, vital front line services like Customer Services and Benefits also come within this directorate.

Directorate of Development and Environmental Services

John Latham - Director of Development and Environmental Services
The Directorate of Development and Environmental Services covers a wide range of services that are split between two distinct areas.

‘Planning and Regeneration’ incorporates everything from planning to heritage with a focus on regeneration, economic development and the supply of affordable housing. ‘Health and Environmental Services’ brings together regulatory services like food, health and safety and building control as well as more community based activities like sport and leisure.

Directorate of Housing and Community Services

John Bibby - Director of Housing and Community Services
The council owns more than 8,000 properties across the city. The Directorate of Housing and Community Services is predominantly responsible for the management of these.

In addition to this, one of the directorate’s biggest services is refuse collection and recycling, as well as looking after the city’s car parks.
