Homeless or Threatened with Homelessness?

Worried about losing your home?

On 3rd April 2018 the Homeless Reduction Act (HRA) came into effect and changed the way that we deal with any eligible person who is at risk of homelessness. New statutory duties enable us to work with you to prevent or relieve your homelessness within the next 56 days. Assistance is available to all eligible households & may result in a Prevention or Relief Duty being offered to you.

Your Housing duty will be established at a Housing Options Interview. The Housing Solutions Officer will establish the most appropriate course of action & assistance available to you & complete a comprehensive housing assessment to identify the problem & any additional support needs that you may have. They will then agree & complete with you a Personalised Housing Plan (PHP) outlining all action that will be taken by the Council & by yourself in order to resolve the situation & then regularly review the plan until a successful outcome is reached.

Helping you keep your home

  • If you're in danger of losing your home or if you are a private tenant having any problems that could lead to losing your home, we will work with you to prevent this happening.
  • We can help if you're fleeing domestic violence, facing possession proceedings, being evicted by a private landlord or being asked to leave by friends or relatives.
  • If it is not possible to prevent you becoming homeless, we will try to help you to find a new home.

Already Homeless?

If you are homeless, sleeping rough, relying on friends for a bed for the night or likely to become homeless in the near future we will work with you to find somewhere to live and relieve your homelessness. We provide advice, support and assistance to rough sleepers and vulnerable people.

We also have a Homeless Outreach Service managed by P3  who work in partnership with other agencies to support you into accommodation. They may be able to help those normally resident outside of the City of Lincoln return to their own locality.

YMCA Lincolnshire and The Nomad Trust provide emergency access accommodation in the form of a night shelter – the only direct access night shelter service in Lincolnshire. The night shelter is open from 8.30pm until 4pm the following day, 365 days a year. Everyone who access the shelter is provided with a hot meal in the evening and a hot breakfast before they leave.

You can find the shelter in Lincoln:
