Launched in 2018 by City of Lincoln Council, the Lincoln Social Responsibility Charter has now surpassed 100 signees.

The charter gives recognition to organisations in the city undertaking a range of socially responsible activities, above the statutory minimum, which benefit their employees and the local community.

Recently, City of Lincoln Council accredited its 101st* signee to the charter, surpassing a significant milestone for the charter and demonstrates the commitment of Lincoln organisations to corporate social responsibility.

Cllr Ric Metcalfe, Leader of City of Lincoln Council, said; “It is great to have passed this significant milestone and to see so many local organisations gaining accreditation to the charter and making a real difference to their employees and the local community, which has been particularly important throughout the pandemic.

“All organisations, no matter how large or small, can undertake socially responsible activities, often at minimal cost. These activities can make a huge difference to your employees and the local community.

“If your organisation is already undertaking a range of socially responsible activities, I would encourage you to sign up to the charter and gain recognition for this significant and recognised commitment.”

Organisations undertaking socially responsible activities can expect to reap rewards for their organisation, ranging from increased staff retention to increased customer loyalty and improved business reputation.

All types of organisations from across all sectors are welcome to join and gain accreditation to the charter. To ensure accreditation to the charter remains fair, the criteria to gain accreditation differs depending on the size of the organisation.

Following gaining accreditation, organisations will receive an accreditation certificate, endorsed by the Right Worshipful, the Mayor of Lincoln, together with promotional window stickers. Both help to show the organisation’s commitment to the charter and social responsibility to their employees and customers.

Organisations also actively receive promotion from City of Lincoln Council as a signee to the charter via a range of routes.

More information on the charter, including a directory of all organisations which have gained accreditation, case studies and examples of socially responsible activities, can be found by visiting www.lincoln.gov.uk/socialresponsibility. Sign up to the charter is also completed via this link.

Accreditation to the charter is free of charge and is open to organisations based in the City of Lincoln or who have employees living within the city boundary.
