City of Lincoln Council has awarded more than £27 million to local businesses through its business rates relief scheme.

Over the last two days, 980 eligible businesses relating to Retail, Hospitality and Leisure, which are struggling financially due to the UK’s coronavirus outbreak, have received the business rate relief.

This is alongside the government’s Business Grant Funding scheme, in which so far, the City of Lincoln Council has awarded more than £16.5 million to 1,317 businesses in the area.

Councillor Ric Metcalfe, Leader at City of Lincoln Council said: “This is good news for many businesses in the area.

“At this difficult time, we know any form of support is much appreciated and I am proud that we have been able to award more than £27 million to those businesses struggling financially through this business rate relief scheme.

“As always, if any business needs support during this time, please do contact us and we will do whatever we can to help.”
