Plans submitted for 42 affordable dwellings in Lincoln

City of Lincoln Council has submitted a planning application for a scheme of 42 affordable dwellings at a site off Rookery Lane, Lincoln.

The proposed scheme, will deliver a mixed development of family homes comprising  two, three and four bedroom houses, as well as two-bedroom bungalows and one-bedroom flats.

All homes will be let at affordable rents to meet the needs of local residents.

The design of the new homes ensures that they will all exceed the recommended space standards for new homes and provide high energy efficiency levels.

It is hoped that the planning application will be considered at the council’s Planning Committee in January 2021 and subject to planning permission being granted and funding being available, it is anticipated that the development will start on site around Summer 2021 and should complete at the end of 2022/early 2023.

All lettings to the development will be made under the council’s allocations policy.

Cllr Donald Nannestad, Portfolio Holder for Quality Housing at City of Lincoln Council said: “The development will provide much needed additional quality affordable housing.

“It will not only provide homes built to a high specification, but it’s design also creates a sense of place in which people can feel safe and creates a positive community feeling.

“Since 2017, the Council has delivered over 193 new council homes and the delivery of Rookery Lane, if approved by the planning committee, will increase this number to 235 new homes.”

Further details on the planning drawings can be viewed on the council’s website.
