Public realm strategy

The public realm is a key aspect of the city centre as an attractive place to visit and invest.

Defined as the spaces between buildings that are freely accessible to people, it includes streets, squares, green spaces, cycle ways and pedestrian areas.

The public realm supports commerce, reflects our culture, and facilitates social interaction.

The public realm strategy sets out the context and design principles for future city centre paving and landscape schemes to ensure such remain aligned and support the wider holistic vision.

The strategy was produced with local city centre stakeholders.
