New Chief Executive

Angela Andrews

Angela Andrews has been chosen as the new Chief Executive at City of Lincoln Council.

Angela has been Acting Chief Executive at the city council since September last year, when Andrew Taylor, who had led the authority for 16 years, left due to ill-health before formally retiring in March 2015.

Final interviews took place on Friday morning (July 3) and were conducted by an appointments panel containing five councillors as well as three people attending in an advisory capacity.

Cllr Ric Metcalfe, Leader of the city council, said: “I am delighted Angela has accepted the position of Chief Executive with City of Lincoln Council. She has a great deal of experience within local government and has proven she is exceptionally capable during her time as Acting Chief Executive over the past nine months.

“Angela is well-liked and respected across the authority and has the skills, abilities and experience to lead the council as we continue to seek to maintain and improve our services to residents and to the city. Her passion and enthusiasm for the council and for Lincoln is contagious and we are certain she is the right person to drive the authority forward in the exciting times ahead. She will lead us into the next chapter of the city’s long and rich history.”

Angela was born and raised in Lincoln and has worked in local government here for more than 30 years. She joined the city council in 1986 as a cashier before moving on to become a trainee accountant.

She qualified as a chartered accountant in 1990 and held numerous roles in senior management before becoming Director of Resources seven years ago. In that time she has steered the council successfully through unprecedented budget cuts from national government.

Angela said: “I am incredibly proud and privileged to be offered this opportunity. It will be an honour to serve Lincoln as Chief Executive of the city council. We have an amazing group of councillors and staff who are all committed to doing the best for the city and we will be working hard together to meet the challenges ahead.

“The council is lucky to have a large number of partners across the city who are as committed as ourselves to ensuring the future of Lincoln is a bright one and I look forward to working closely with them. This is a fantastic and exciting time to be leading the city council, when we have so many major projects under way.”

The recommendation of the appointments panel will go to a meeting of the full council on Tuesday, July 14 to be formally agreed.
