100 guests roll out to Lincoln Community Lottery launch

Published: 07/06/2018

Lincoln Community Lottery was officially launched at a special event hosted by Lincoln Drill Hall last night.

The evening aimed to encourage good causes to reap the rewards from City of Lincoln Council’s new lottery, with 60 pence from every £1 ticket helping provide additional funding for charities, voluntary organisations and other good causes that operate in Lincoln and surrounding areas.

Around 100 guests attended the event to discover what the new lottery has to offer, with Lincoln Drill Hall being the first good cause to officially sign up to Lincoln Community Lottery.

Chris Kirkwood, Chief Executive at Lincoln Drill Hall, said: “We are delighted to have signed up as a good cause that can be supported by Lincoln Community Lottery.

“As a registered charity, fundraising is a key strand to Lincoln Drill Hall’s continued operation.

“Lincoln Community Lottery has the potential for people across the city to provide us with much needed additional income as we seek to continue to deliver exciting arts and entertainment services across the city.”

Players of the lottery can win a £25,000 jackpot, plus smaller prizes, by purchasing a ticket on its website from 3 July 2018.

The first draw for Lincoln Community Lottery is 11 August 2018 and players will have a 50 to one chance of winning a prize.

A lottery management company, Gatherwell, has been appointed to run the scheme, having launched similar lotteries for other authorities in the country.

Cllr Ric Metcalfe, Leader of City of Lincoln Council, said: "What a fantastic night!

“The team and I are so pleased with the amount of interest and commitment from good causes of different demographic, size and type in and around the city.

“The first draw is fast approaching and we are looking forward to signing up those who can benefit during such an exciting time in Lincoln.”
