Local builders invited to bid on building materials

Published: 24/03/2016

Builders and traders based in Lincoln will have the opportunity to pick up a bargain as City of Lincoln Council holds an auction of surplus materials next week.

The council’s City Maintenance Services – which manages repairs and maintenance of the authority’s 8,000 council homes – is selling several pallets of material that it can no longer use.

A wide range of products are available, from cupboard doors to radiator valves, scaffolding joints and wooden gates.

Anyone interested can view the pallets between 9am and 3pm at Hamilton House, in Beevor Street, next Wednesday 30 March 2016 and Thursday 31 March 2016.

They will then be invited to place sealed bids on any pallets they are interested in.

Matt Hillman, Maintenance Manager at the city council, said: “This is a great opportunity for local, small businesses to pick up building materials that the council no longer has any use for, at a low price.

“All the items are new and unused. Anything we don’t sell will be donated to local colleges for students to use.”
