Work to turn City Hall into a new Public Sector Hub will continue with the Property Shop reception area moving to the Main Reception.
Earlier this year City of Lincoln Council agreed to lease the first floor west wing of City Hall to the Department for Work and Pensions’ (DWP) JobCentre Plus service, bringing key services together under one roof and aiming to provide an improved, more cohesive experience for the customer.
A series of works to accommodate the move has been taking place, with the latest phase getting under way on Monday, September 21. This will include the council’s Property Shop reception moving to the Main Reception desk while work on the Property Shop is carried out. The Property Shop will share the Customer Services area, which will mean there are fewer interview rooms available during this time.
Paul Lockwood, Housing Solutions Team Leader at the council, said: “We’re advising people to only come to City Hall if their housing need is urgent while these works take place.
“If anyone is unsure about what is classed as urgent I would ask them to call us on 01522 873777 and one of our officers will be able to advise them.
“It’s also worth checking our website as there is a wealth of information on there, including bidding for properties and notifying of any changes in circumstances.
“The short-term disruption is necessary to ensure the works can continue to schedule and eventually create a Public Sector Hub with key services under one roof which will be a huge benefit for our customers.”
