Skateboards, scooters and BMX bikes at the ready - a free urban sports competition will return to the Backies this weekend.

SK8JAM, which has been organised by City of Lincoln Council’s Neighbourhood Working Team and YMCA Lincolnshire’s The Showroom, will see young people compete against each other at Moorland Backies, off Moorland Avenue, this Sunday, September 20.

The competitions include categories for beginner and experienced BMX riders, skateboarding and scooters. For the first time the event will also offer Parkour demonstrations and taster workshops run by YMCA Showroom.

Jose Bruce, Neighbourhood Manager for Lincoln South at the city council, said: “I’m delighted to see the return of this event after a two year absence. I hope this opportunity will bring young people together from across the city to enjoy this fantastic facility.”

Positive Futures, Ignite Church and Two Seasons are also helping to support the event, which will take place from 1pm until 6pm.

Competitors are asked to keep up to date with YMCA Lincolnshire’s The Showroom Facebook page,www.facebook.com/theshowroom, in the event of bad weather.
