We want your say on a brand-new allotment in Birchwood

Published: 04/01/2019

City of Lincoln Council wants your views on the plans for a brand-new allotment site on Melbourne Road in Birchwood, Lincoln.

Face-to-face consultation sessions will be held at The Life Church, Birchwood Avenue, Lincoln on 7 January from 10am – 2pm, 9 January from 5pm – 9pm and 11 January from 10am – 9pm.

The allotment will use one third of a large open space on Melbourne Road and have its own water supply and secure entry system which will be accessed via Melbourne Road.

The new allotment will form part of a city-wide programme of improvements to all of the city council’s allotment sites.

Caroline Bird, Community Services Manager at City of Lincoln Council, said: “A new allotment is certainly an exciting opportunity for the residents of Birchwood.

“There is a lack of allotment sites around this area of the city, so we want to bridge this gap to allow more of our residents the opportunity to grow their own fruit and vegetables.

“The allotment would not only bring a supply of fresh produce, but it will make a great opportunity for local residents to get out and about and meet new people in the community.

”We hope that you can join us for the public consultation sessions and share any queries you may have with us.”
