City of Lincoln Council has now opened stallholder applications for the 2021 Lincoln Christmas Market.
Subject to government restrictions, the council intends for the Lincoln Christmas Market to go ahead, taking place from 2-5 December, 2021.
Due to the global Covid-19 pandemic in 2020, last year’s Lincoln Christmas Market didn’t take place due to government restrictions in place.
However, in light of recent government announcements, the council is hopeful for a 2021 market and preparations have now begun.
As such, stallholders are now being asked to apply by Wednesday 31 March for their place at the 2021 market, which is anticipated to include 200 stalls in Lincoln’s uphill area.
Each year, stallholders at the Lincoln Christmas Market are asked to dress in Victorian themed attire, with the theme continued within their stall.
Stalls will be judged on their appearance, and stallholders on their costume, with the best dressed (stall and stallholders) for 2021 winning a cash prize of £500. Second place will receive £300, and third, £200.
This year, the council will also be introducing a new and improved payment plan for those who are successful in their stall application, which will be split into four payments prior to December.
Cllr Neil Murray, Portfolio Holder for Economic Growth said: “Each year, the Lincoln Christmas Market attracts a number of visitors, helps boost the city’s economy and was greatly missed by many last year.
“Following government predictions for the rest of the year, we are hopeful the 2021 market will go ahead as planned, and we will continue to work on preparations, keeping a close eye on restrictions in place.
“We know 2020 was a difficult year for many and bringing that Christmas magic back to the city for 2021 is something we can’t wait to do.
“If, in the event this year’s market cannot go ahead due to the ongoing pandemic, we have plans in place to ensure any money stallholders have paid towards their stall will be refunded in full.”
