City of Lincoln Council is pleased to announce that its first batch of 455 business grants totalling more than £5 million have now been processed for payment.

The first set of local businesses who have now been accepted for the grants should receive the payment within three working days.

All businesses due to receive a payment will receive a confirmation email, including terms and conditions and a state aid declaration.

At this time, there are approximately 300 further grant applications in the system which are going through our checks to determine eligibility.

It is the council’s intention that a further batch of grant payments will be processed later today.

These grants for part of a £22 million pot of money allocated to the council from government.

Cllr Ric Metcalfe, Leader of City of Lincoln Council said:

“We are pleased to say that so far, a total of £5,315,000 has been granted to Lincoln businesses, with more eligible businesses going through the process as we speak.

“We are doing whatever we can to help businesses through this difficult time, and will continue to support those struggling financially due to the UK’s coronavirus outbreak.”
