The Giving Machine take over ownership and management of Lincoln Community Lottery from City of Lincoln Council

Lincoln Community Lottery successfully ran for more than seven years and raised more than £250,000 for 75 good causes locally under the City of Lincoln Council’s ownership and management.

Following a review of how best to manage the Lottery going forwards, The Giving Machine successfully took over the ownership and management of Lincoln Community Lottery from City of Lincoln Council on 10th April 2026. We are grateful to The Giving Machine for helping to ensure the Lottery continues to provide a way for local good causes to raise funds.

Members have noticed minimal changes to the way the lottery is run post the transfer as the council worked closely with The Giving Machine and the Lottery Operator, Gatherwell, to ensure a smooth transition took place.

One change which did take place upon the transfer was in relation to the Lincoln Lottery Community Fund. Whilst the lottery was under the council’s ownership, this fund is was raised from 10 pence in every ticket purchased and 60 pence where a player selected the Lincoln Lottery Community Fund as their good cause. This fund was used to support local causes within Lincoln.

Following the lottery transferring to The Giving Machine, these funds now support The Giving Machine’s Community Fund, which is allocated to causes across the country, of which some may be located within Lincoln.

Any further changes to the way the lottery is run moving forward will be communicated by The Giving Machine as the owners of Lincoln Community Lottery.

Members of the lottery were provided with the option of cancelling their membership ahead of the transfer of the ownership and management of the lottery to The Giving Machine.
