Personal licence

After you apply for a personal licence

Once your completed documents are received by the Licencing Team, your application will be processed. If it appears there are convictions for any relevant or foreign offences, notice will be given to the chief officer of police. If the police make no objections within a 14 day period, your licence will be granted. If there are objections, your application will go before a sub-committee and you will receive notice of this.

If your application is successful

If your application is successful, the Licensing Team will endeavour to complete your licence as soon as possible. The licence will be sent to the address of correspondence given on your application form.

If your application is unsuccessful

If you are unhappy with the decision made, you do have the right to appeal.

If you are under the age of 18 or you do not have the relevant qualification, then your application will be rejected without the right of appeal.
