Toms of Lincoln was established in 2007. Ultimately, we are a business with a focus on hair for both men and women. We like to think we cater for all our client's needs; we also like to think we are a strong part of the community.
Why did you choose to sign up to the charter?
When seeing Lincoln had created a social responsibility charter, I felt it was only right as a business owner, and an employer of staff, that we should support this in any way possible.
I feel anything that betters employees rights, makes employers and business owners look at themselves, and makes us more accountable to meet the needs of our workers, is definitely worth being part of.
It also has the community benefit. With our salon being in the middle of a council estate, we get to hear the needs of many of the local residents.
Have you noticed any positive changes since undertaking a range of socially responsible activities?
We haven't noticed any changes yet, but we have been working on making numerous changes within our business, to give our staff members more clarity of what's expected of them, and what we intend to provide for them.
