Join the Local Landscapes and Hidden Histories Project every month for their Local History Cafe Talks. This month is The Lincoln Trams by Andrew Blow.
Andrew Blow has tackled a wide variety of topics in a long career as a print journalist, radio and TV journalist, and filmmaker. Specialising in historical topics, he loves to investigate old film and images and use them to create local history documentaries for today's audiences.
Andrew Blow’s talk, with period images, is born from a documentary he created following the generous loan to him of a photo album of the trams. In researching the history behind the album, the trail led Andrew to the smoky backstreets of Bracebridge in the 1920s and the story of two orphaned brothers and the remarkable auntie who brought them up. The trams were pulled by horses from 1882 to 1905 when the tram company was bought by Lincoln Corporation and went electric, firstly in an unusual and innovative way.
Booking is essential.
