Local History Cafe: The Ruston in the Blue Lagoon

Join the Local Landscapes and Hidden Histories Project every month for their Local History Cafe Talks. This month is The Ruston in the Blue Lagoon with Andrew Blow

Andrew Blow has tackled a wide variety of topics in a long career as a print journalist, radio and TV journalist, and filmmaker. Specialising in historical topics, he loves to investigate old film and images and use them to create local history documentaries for today's audiences.

The Ruston in the Blue Lagoon is the incredible story of a conservation miracle achieved through the dogged determination of Lincoln-based engineering historian Ray Hooley. Ray, now 96, rescued what is now the world’s oldest working excavator from a watery grave, where it had lain for 47 years, and organised its preservation.
