City of Lincoln Council is delighted to announce that it has been shortlisted in three categories in The Tourism Excellence Awards 2024-25.

The Tourism Excellence Awards 2024-25 are presented by Destination Lincolnshire and Discover Rutland, and accredited by VisitEngland.

These awards celebrate outstanding achievements across the tourism sector, and this recognition underscores the council’s commitment to elevating Lincoln’s visitor experience.

The shortlist, unveiled after a rigorous judging process, includes City of Lincoln Council’s Festival of History, which has been nominated for the Event/Festival of the Year Award, recognising its role in bringing history to life for residents and visitors alike.

Additionally, Lucy Russon, Events, Tourism and Culture Officer at City of Lincoln Council has been nominated for the Going Places Award, celebrating her emerging talent in the tourism sector.

Finally, Michele Sims, Lincoln Visitor Information Centre Manager, has been recognised for her dedication with a nomination for the Outstanding Contribution Awards, sponsored by Lincolnshire Showground.

Destination Lincolnshire and Discover Rutland, in partnership with organisations across the region, are thrilled to celebrate this year’s finalists as a showcase of exceptional commitment, leadership, and innovation within the tourism industry.

The Tourism Excellence Awards honour those who have demonstrated a significant positive impact on the sector, with special recognition for individuals who have gone above and beyond to support Lincolnshire’s tourism landscape.

The awards process includes three judging rounds, with the next step involving a mystery shopping assessment, managed by insight6, which will evaluate each finalist’s dedication to delivering high-quality, memorable guest experiences.

The winners will be revealed at a grand ceremony on 28 February 2025, at the Lincolnshire Showground.

Cllr Joshua Wells, Portfolio Holder for Inclusive Economic Growth, said:

“We are thrilled to be recognised across three categories in The Tourism Excellence Awards.

“These nominations highlight our commitment to making Lincoln a vibrant and welcoming destination for all, from our Festival of History, which we hope to grow and continue to improve in years to come, to our dedicated team members who go above and beyond.

“We’re incredibly proud of the quality of our current and emerging staff. Lucy and Michele should be very pleased with their outstanding contributions, and we look forward to seeing Lincoln’s hard work and innovation celebrated on both regional and national stages.”

This highly anticipated event will bring together finalists, industry peers, and key figures from across the tourism sector to celebrate achievements and foster connections that further Lincolnshire’s position as a top UK destination.

City of Lincoln Council is proud to be among those recognised and congratulates all nominees in the region’s thriving tourism sector for their continued dedication and contribution.
