Lincoln Live, the city’s free music festival celebrating the region’s up-and-coming musical talent, is back for 2025 with an exciting new location.
For the first time, the festival will move to City Square, next to Cornhill Market and behind B&M on Waterside South. The new venue offers a more intimate setting, giving audiences the chance to fully immerse themselves in the live performances.
Taking place over two days on Saturday 30 August from 1pm to 8pm and Sunday 31 August from 12 noon to 5pm, this year’s event promises a joyous experience with music for all tastes and ages.
Hosted by City of Lincoln Council’s Events in Lincoln team, the Lincoln Live main stage will be curated by BBC Introducing, with the show’s regional host Dean Jackson hand-picking each act.
Festivalgoers can enjoy a full-service bar on City Square, supplied by Sipwell Events, featuring locally crafted ales, and a special Lincoln Live-themed cocktail and a range of soft drinks, and premium spirits.
Thanks to the festival’s close proximity to the Cornhill Market, attendees will have easy access to food and refreshments, as well as toilet facilities.
Also returning for a second year is Lincoln Live Unplugged, a chilled-out acoustic companion stage at St Paul in the Bail, brought to life by Southside Lincoln and curated by Acoustic Nations Lincoln.
Set against the stunning historic backdrop of Lincoln Castle, the unplugged stage will host a diverse lineup of acoustic acts in a relaxed, scenic atmosphere. Surrounded by charming pubs, bars, restaurants, and local shops, it's the perfect spot for a laid-back musical day out.
Cllr Joshua Wells, Portfolio Holder for Inclusive Economic Growth at City of Lincoln Council, said:
“Now in its third year, Lincoln Live is one of our key events in the city, it’s a chance for people of all ages to enjoy free music in the city and celebrate the end of the summer holidays.
“City Square is a prime location to host the festival’s main stage. It offers a more intimate and exclusive atmosphere for audiences to truly engage with the music. Plus, with the Cornhill Market just steps away, visitors can easily explore it during the short breaks between performances.
“As a whole, we’re keen to collaborate with local independent businesses in both the city centre and uphill Lincoln to strengthen our connection with the community.”
Some seating and deck chairs will be provided at both stages, but visitors are welcome to bring their own for maximum comfort. Guests are also welcome to bring food and non-alcoholic drinks; however, alcohol must be purchased on-site from the official Lincoln Live bar.
