The Council is responsible for the naming and numbering of streets and buildings in Lincoln.
We do this so that new street names and building names and numbers are allocated logically which, among other things ensures the effective delivery of mail and that emergency service vehicles are able to locate addresses easily.
Applying for a new address
You should apply for a new address if you are:
- building new houses, commercial or industrial properties
- converting residential, commercial or industrial properties where 1 or more premises are being created
We must create new addresses and road names to comply with national standards.
Wherever possible new addresses will always be given a number in the existing street sequence so emergency services can easily find the property.
