Polling place review 2023
A polling districts and polling places review involving public and stakeholder consultation was held between 2 October 2023 and 1 December 2023.
In accordance with the Review of Polling Districts and Polling Places (Parliamentary Elections) Regulations 2006 – we conducted a review of all polling districts and polling places in the district’s parliamentary constituencies.
Background information
The review sought to ensure that all electors had reasonable facilities for the purposes of voting and to ensure that polling places were accessible to disabled electors. The formal consultation period was held between 2 October 2023 and on 30 October 2023, with the review completing in November 2023 following final approval by the Council at its meeting held on Tuesday 28 November 2023.
A polling district is a smaller part of an electoral area. They can be thought of as the building blocks from which different council wards and parliamentary constituencies are built from. A polling district cannot be shared between two electoral areas – such as a parish.
A polling place is the venue at which a polling station(s) is located
A polling station is the room or space where voting takes place
