Information about travel to and around Lincoln can be found on the Visit Lincoln website

Alternative travel options exist for people unable to access conventional public transport in Lincolnshire. for more information visit the Lincolnshire County Council website

Public Transport Routes

The nearest railway station is Lincoln Central, St Marys Street, Lincoln, LN5 7EW. 

The station is located 0.5 miles away from the Visitor Information Centre and is a 20 minute walk depending on your chosen route.

Bus

Lincoln Bus Station is located opposite the train station.

Stagecoach operates a network of daily, frequent bus routes around the city and also to nearby towns and villages.

8 Small mobile scooters may use the Stagecoach buses if they have low floor and a maximum measurement of 600mm wide and 1000mm long. 234 kilograms is the maximum weight.

You can buy a Lincoln Plusbus ticket with your train ticket. These tickets provide a discounted price and unlimited bus travel around the city. You can apply online at www.plusbus.info

Walk and Ride: The Steep Hill Shuttle

The Walk & Ride shuttle bus runs within the centre of the City of Lincoln six days a week (Monday to Saturday).

  • The bus service is provided by PC Coaches
  • This service drops off and picks up in Castle Hill 10m from the Visitor Information Centre

Other Buses

Other than the Walk and Ride service, the nearest bus stop to the Lincoln Visitor Information centre is located outside The Lincoln Hotel on Nettleham Road.

  • Bus routes 7,8,11, 12, 17 and 18 stop here
  • Not all the bus stops on Nettleham Road have a shelter with seating
  • The distance from the bus stop to the Visitor Information Centre is 322 m (0.2 miles)

DialaRide

There is a DialaRide service for the disabled and over 60s who cannot use public transport.

The service, which runs from Lincoln Bus Station, is available to pick you up from your home within a six mile radius of the city.

Persons wishing to contact Lincoln Area DialaRide can do so by telephoning 01522 544983 Monday to Friday between 9.00am and 3:30pm.

Car Routes

Please use the Visitor Information Centre postcode for satellite navigation devices and Google Maps. LN1 3AA will take you to the nearest pay and display car park located in Castle Hill.
 

Free Car Parking

There are fifteen on-road parking spaces, limited to 2 hours between 8am and 6pm Monday to Saturday (no return within 2 hours), available along the south side of the Lincoln Cathedral.

There are 10 spaces along Eastgate and the on-road parking is limited to 1 hour between 8am and 6pm Monday to Saturday (no return within 2 hours).

Either option offers paved routes to the Visitor Information Centre, which is located within a few metres.

There are two disabled parking bays in the Bailgate, one by the Bailgate Methodist Church and one by Lloyds Bank. (3 hours for Blue Badge holders) and several 1 hour parking spaces (all day parking for Blue Badge holders).
 

Paid Car Parking

Please visit lincoln.gov.uk for the latest car park information and service updates. 

 

Drop-off

Taxis and cars can drop-off and pick up in Castle Hill outside the Visitor Information Centre or in the Bailgate near to the White Hart Hotel.

  • This area has a mixture of flat paving and cobblestones
  • The distance to the Information centre is only a few metres.

Shop Mobility

A ShopMobility service operates from Lincoln Bus Station and is available Monday to Saturday from 9.00am to 4.15pm.

  • On Saturdays, the office is closed between 12.00pm and 1.00pm
