Local Landscapes & Hidden Histories is an ambitious National Lottery Heritage Fund project that has brought people together from across Lincoln to explore and celebrate the heritage of our parks and green spaces.
Discover archive material, fascinating local history and creative work inspired by the project, showcasing the stories, landscapes and communities that make Lincoln's green spaces so special.

Shared Ground Exhibition
Drop in to this special exhibition which marks the finale of Local Landscapes & Hidden Histories; an ambitious project that has engaged people from across the city in rediscovering and celebrating the heritage of our green spaces.
Friday 24 July | 10am to 11.30am
Stencil Drawing with Pastels
A relaxed, beginner-friendly workshop using archival photographs to create colourful, atmospheric artwork inspired by Lincoln's treasured parks, past and present. The workshop invites you to mindfully connect with our parks' history through calming and experimental drawing processes.

Local History Café & Book Launch
A special Local History Café, with guest speakers from the Survey of Lincoln: An extended event which will see a series of short talks about our parks and open spaces. Alongside this we are pleased to announce the launch of a new book by the Survey of Lincoln, exploring the history of Lincoln’s parks and green spaces. Refreshments will be served on the night.

A Walk Through Lincoln's Hidden Welfare History*
Join expert guides Dr Samantha Shave and Dr Matthew Bayly for a fascinating walk uncovering the stories of Lincoln's historic workhouse, asylum and welfare institutions.
Lincoln is famous for its iconic historical sites. However, hidden in plain sight is a forgotten history, one where people struggled to survive. Grappling with poverty, ill health and mental illness, countless people entered Lincoln’s welfare institutions. This tour focuses on this hidden past, exploring the experiences of Lincoln’s workhouse and asylum. Encounter real stories of the people who entered these buildings.
Please meet outside the Visitor Information Centre on Castle Square.

Join Lincoln Free Walking Tour to explore the historical landmarks and gain cultural insights into the beautiful landscape of West Common.
