Lincoln will be filled with pride on Thursday 26 June for the RAF Waddington Freedom Parade, organised by City of Lincoln Council in conjunction with the Royal Air Force.
On the day, RAF Waddington will begin their Freedom of the City Parade at St Martin’s Square at 11:30am, proceeding down the High Street.
The parade will pass under the Stonebow, with bayonets fixed, bands playing and colours flying, and pausing at the War Memorial for a formal salute from the Deputy Lieutenant and RAF Waddington’s Commanding Officer at 11:36am.
The city is honoured to announce that there will be a special fly-past by the Red Arrows at approximately 11:40am, to honour this historic occasion.
A commemorative reading by Melvyn Prior will take place at the War Memorial before the parade continues towards through the Cornhill and to City Square, where it will formally dismiss at around 11:55am.
Road closures and stewarding will be in place throughout the morning to ensure everyone’s safety and enjoyment. Visitors are encouraged to arrive early, grab a good viewing spot, and soak up the atmosphere as the city comes together to honour those who serve.
This annual tradition is a celebration of the strong ties between the RAF and the people of Lincoln. It’s a moment to come together, show support, and enjoy the impressive sight of over 100 RAF personnel, including an RAF Band, marching with military precision through our city streets.
