Do you know an individual, charity or company that deserves special recognition for going the extra mile and bringing credit to the City of Lincoln?
You can help make 2026 an even happier New Year for someone truly outstanding by nominating them for the prestigious Lincoln Civic Award.
Representatives of the Lincoln Civic Award have officially launched their search for the next recipient of this highly coveted honour, which celebrates those who have made an exceptional contribution to the city of Lincoln.
The achievement may be a single act or have been performed over a period of time, and could have been performed as a voluntary act or in the course of paid work.
The award will be presented by the Right Worshipful, the Mayor of Lincoln, Councillor Bill Mara, at a special ceremony in the city’s historic Guildhall on 30 April. Whether the recipient is an individual, charity or company, the award can be used to raise awareness of their work both now and in the future.
The Chair of the Lincoln Civic Award, Henry Ruddock, said:
“The winner’s name will be added to an impressive Roll of Honour which already includes some excellent individuals, charities and companies. Many previous winners have helped spread Lincoln’s name and reputation across the wider world over the years.”
The Civic Award was first established in 1966 by the late Frank Eccleshare, during his term as Mayor of Lincoln. His vision was to create an annual award recognising an outstanding individual, organisation or company that had brought credit to the city.
Past recipients include the Red Arrows; former Lincoln City Football Club managers Danny and Nicky Cowley; the Lincolnshire Society for History & Archaeology (SLHA); Lincoln’s New Theatre Royal; the Lincolnshire Fire & Rescue Service team, part of the UK’s International Search and Rescue group deployed to Turkey following a major earthquake; and Stokes of Lincoln.
As Lincoln continues to grow and develop, nominations are welcomed from across the community. Members of the public are encouraged to put forward charity workers, sportsmen and women, businesses, education professionals and health workers who have made an outstanding contribution to the city.
Nominations can be made online at: https://www.lincoln.gov.uk/council/civic-twinning/2.
The closing date for nominations is 27 March.
