St Francis School has recently enjoyed a double celebration, recognising both the community efforts of its pupils and the exceptional dedication of its nursing team.
The Mayor of the City of Lincoln, Cllr Bill Mara, along with City of Lincoln's Neighbourhood Team, visited the school to present certificates to 23 pupils who volunteered to help deliver the Neighbourhood Team's Ermine newsletter at the end of last year.
Their hard work and enthusiasm played an important role in supporting the local community, and the visit was a chance to congratulate them for their contribution.
The Mayor praised the pupils for their commitment and expressed how much he enjoyed meeting them during the visit.
In addition to the pupils’ achievements, the school also celebrated the success of its nursing team, who recently won the Chair's Compassion and Respect Award at the United Lincolnshire Hospitals NHS Trust Staff Awards.
The nurses play a central role in the daily life of the school, supporting students with complex medical needs.
To help showcase the team’s impact, pupils created a heartfelt video explaining why the nurses are so valued, a gesture that helped secure the judges’ decision.
Paul Carrick, Neighbourhood Manager Central at City of Lincoln Council, said:
“We really appreciate the efforts of the pupils and staff at St Francis school for getting involved and helping us deliver our newsletter in the area.
“Having recently shifted our area of focus to the Ermine to make positive changes in the area, we look forward to continuing to work with the school in the future.”
Kelly Bradley, Head of St Francis School, said:
“We already knew they were the best, but it's great that they have received the recognition they deserve. We are so proud of them.”
Following the award, Julie Smith, Nurse Team Leader, was invited to attend an NHS board meeting to present and discuss the vital work her team delivers at St Francis School.
Together, the achievements of both pupils and staff highlight the school’s strong sense of community, compassion and excellence.
