Residents attend information evening on Jasmin Green council homes development

Four elderly members of the community, two women and two men, with a male member of council staff looking at a design board.

Residents were invited to attend an information evening hosted by City of Lincoln Council to learn more about the new council homes development at Jasmin Green.

The session was held at St Luke and St Martin’s Church on Jasmin Road and allowed local residents to speak with council officers and representatives from contractor Belvin Construction about the scheme, ask questions and share their views.

The council is delivering 50 new council homes on land it owns at Jasmin Green, with construction due to begin in March.

The development will feature a mix of one-bedroom flats, bungalows, and family houses, ranging from one to five bedrooms. All homes will be owned and managed by the council and allocated to tenants through the housing register via Lincs Homefinder.

The homes are being designed to be highly energy-efficient, with features including air-source heat pumps, solar panels with battery storage, electric vehicle charging points, and enhanced insulation.

The development will also include landscaping, tree planting and sustainable drainage features, while maintaining public pedestrian links through the site once construction is complete. All trees remaining on the site have been protected throughout the build, with a significant number of new trees set to be planted as part of the development.

The information evening was organised to give residents the chance to learn more about the project, including how the site will be accessed via Aldergrove Crescent, the planned construction programme and how the council will keep the community informed as work progresses.

The event was well attended, with residents given the opportunity to view plans and design proposals for the development and speak directly with officers about how the scheme will be delivered.

Attendees were able to ask questions about the types of homes being built, the construction programme and how the development will integrate with the community.

During the event, residents were also provided with information about the fencing currently in place around the site. The fencing has been installed to protect both the public and contractors during construction and will also help reduce dust and noise as work progresses.

Different types of fencing are used in different areas of the site for safety and construction purposes, and the council is currently exploring improvements including additional lighting and the potential to display further information and images about the development on the solid hoarding.

Cllr Donald Nannestad, Portfolio Holder for Quality Housing at City of Lincoln Council, said:

“Providing high-quality council homes is one of our key priorities, and developments like Jasmin Green are an important part of meeting the housing needs of our residents.

“We want these new homes to be well designed, energy efficient and to sit comfortably within the existing community, and sessions like this help us keep residents informed about what’s happening on site and what they can expect as the development progresses.”

The development aims to help meet local housing needs in the Birchwood area, where more than 550 households are currently on the housing register seeking a home.

Construction is expected to take around 18 months, with the new homes due to be completed in autumn 2027.

Residents who were unable to attend the information evening but would like more information about the development can contact the council by emailing major.developments@lincoln.gov.uk.
