Kerbing reinstatement works will take place at the entrance to Pig Lane, off Skellingthorpe Road in Lincoln, on Wednesday 27 May and Thursday 28 May 2026.
The works are being carried out by City of Lincoln Council’s contractors, Lindum Construction, and will complete the final stage of highway-related improvements connected to the western access of the Charterholme development under the Section 278 Agreement of the project.
The works could not be completed earlier due to ongoing activity within the development site, but can now safely go ahead.
To enable the works to be carried out safely, temporary traffic management will be in place throughout the two-day period.
While no road closures are required, four-way temporary traffic signals will be operating on the northern side of Skellingthorpe Road, near the Pig Lane junction, as well as at the Skellingthorpe Road/Birchwood Avenue junction.
The signals will be in operation from 9.30am on Wednesday 27 May until approximately 3.30pm on Thursday 28 May and will be actively monitored throughout the works to help minimise disruption as far as possible.
The northern footway along Skellingthorpe Road will also be temporarily closed while the works are underway, with temporary pedestrian crossing points in place to maintain safe access for pedestrians.
Although every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum, some delays are expected, and road users are encouraged to plan ahead and allow extra travel time.
This is particularly important given that additional gas works are also taking place on Doddington Road during the same period, which may increase congestion in the wider area.
Maria Clayton, Project Manager for Major Developments at City of Lincoln Council stated:
“We appreciate that there will be some disruption for road users during these works and would like to thank people for their patience whilst our contractors complete the works”
Advanced warning signage has been in place since 13 May to provide early notification to road users.
City of Lincoln Council would like to thank residents and road users for their patience while these essential works are completed.
