Lincolnshire will host the first two stages of the 2026 Lloyds Tour of Britain Men on Wednesday 2 and Thursday 3 September 2026, bringing the UCI ProSeries race to the city for the first time.
Lincoln will host the start and finish of stage one, while Boston and Skegness will host the stage two start and finish.
When the first stage rolls out of Lincoln on Wednesday 2 September, it will be the first visit by a national Tour to the city in over 30 years. The city annually hosts the Lincoln Grand Prix, a key fixture on the Lloyds National Road Series calendar.
North Lincolnshire most recently hosted the start and finish of the Tour back in 2017, with Lincoln a regular host of the Milk Race from the 1960s to 1992, so it is a region synonymous with hosting high-quality road racing spectacles.
Day two will see the peloton heading out from the market town of Boston, across the beautiful surrounding Lincolnshire area, before the stage comes to a conclusion at the seaside coastal town of Skegness, after hours of ferocious racing.
Neither venue has hosted a modern-day Lloyds Tour of Britain race, although Skegness was a regular host of the Milk Race, last hosting a stage finish in 1991.
British Cycling research, delivered by GSIQ, showed the 2025 Lloyds Tours of Britain brought an overall cumulative economic impact of £62.3 million to the local areas which hosted the ten stages, bringing huge social impact to communities across the country as well.
The hosting of major cycling events such as the Lloyds Tour of Britain Men is part of a partnership agreed between British Cycling, City of Lincoln Council, Boston Borough Council and East Lindsey District Council to grow cycling and tourism links in the region.
Jonathan Day, Director of Events for British Cycling Ventures, said:
“We are delighted to be bringing the Lloyds Tour of Britain Men to these fantastic locations later this year. We are bringing new hosts and stages in Lincoln, Boston and Skegness, and Leyburn, and it is fantastic to return to previous hosts of the race in Hull and Beverley, Helmsley, and the Scottish Borders.
“Taking the Tour to Lincoln for the first time, a city synonymous with its love for cycling, will be special for the opening stage of the men’s race, before the route winds its way up the east coast via North Yorkshire, before reaching the Scottish Borders in Earlston.
"On behalf of British Cycling Ventures, I would like to pay thanks to our partners across the five stages for supporting the hosting and delivery of this September’s race and enabling us to bring another memorable and action packed five days of world class racing to their communities, spreading the joy of cycling along the route, and inspiring more people to get on a bike and live healthier lives.”
Cllr Joshua Wells, Portfolio Holder for Inclusive Economic Growth at City of Lincoln Council said:
"It’s fantastic news that the opening stage of the Lloyds Tour of Britain will begin in Lincoln, with the magnificent backdrop of our wonderful historic city.
“We expect crowds will line the pavements along the route to witness some of the best cyclists in the world in action.
“Hosting the first stage of this iconic national cycling event will have an incredibly positive impact both on the day and long after the peloton has departed. Hotels, restaurants, and retail can all capitalise on the media coverage that puts our city front-and-centre of the UK’s greatest cycle race.
“I’m sure everyone in Lincoln will get behind this amazing event and we are very proud to have played our part in bringing it to the city.”
Councillor Dale Broughton, Leader of Boston Borough Council, said:
“We are thrilled to share the fantastic news that the world-class Lloyds Tour of Britain cycle race will be coming to Boston for the first time in its history. We are proud to have been selected and look forward to welcoming the world’s top cyclists to our town for the start of stage two, in front of thousands of local spectators as well as a national and international audience. This is a great opportunity for our communities to showcase what they have to offer and a much-needed boost for local businesses and we can’t wait to see the pelotons of cyclists and their supporters.
“We are proud to be working in partnership with British Cycling and have invested in the event to shine a spotlight on our borough, highlighting our welcoming communities and attractions to a wider audience. And this is just the beginning, with plenty of opportunities for residents, businesses and community groups to get involved as we share more details in the coming days and weeks.”
Councillor Craig Leyland, Leader of East Lindsey District Council, said:
“Absolutely delighted that the Lloyds Tour of Britain will be coming through East Lindsey, with a thrilling grandstand finish at our fabulous seaside resort of Skegness. We eagerly await their arrival in September and look forward to hosting their stay, a momentous addition to the 2026 summer holiday season.
“Hosting the Tour is not just the chance to witness an exciting sporting spectacle on our own doorstep - it also brings significant economic benefits to our region. This will be a massive boost to our visitor economy, particularly the hospitality sector, from hotels and guest houses to restaurants, cafés and local shops.
“Having such a prestigious event will demonstrate everything we have to offer - from our world-class coastline and beaches, to the picturesque Lincolnshire Wolds, and our historic market towns.”
Emma Tatlow, CEO, Active Lincolnshire said:
“We’re absolutely delighted that Lincolnshire will host two stages of the Lloyds Tour of Britain. This is a fantastic opportunity not only to showcase our county, but to inspire more people to get active. At Active Lincolnshire, we’re committed to breaking down the barriers that prevent people from being physically active – whether that’s access, confidence or inequality, and this event gives us a powerful platform to work with partners to reach communities across the county. We hope it will spark lasting change, helping more people discover the benefits of movement for their health and wellbeing.”
The 2026 edition will take place in Lincolnshire, the East Yorkshire, and North Yorkshire, before heading to the Scottish Borders for its conclusion.
The opening stage will be a start-finish in the cathedral city of Lincoln before the second stage starts in Boston with a finish on the coast in Skegness. The race continues its journey up the east of the country with a stage from Hull, taking in the wonderful coastline before heading into the Wolds for the finish in Beverley. North Yorkshire provides the penultimate stage moving from Moors to Dales starting in Helmsley and finishing in Leyburn. The race will then conclude on familiar roads in the Scottish Borders but with a new start-finish location in the market town of Earlston.
The full list of stages is:
- Stage 1: Lincoln – Lincoln
- Stage 2: Boston – Skegness
- Stage 3: Hull – Beverley
- Stage 4: Helmsley - Leyburn
