Hartsholme Country Park is situated in the southwest of Lincoln, adjacent to Swanholme Lakes Local Nature Reserve, approximately three miles from the city centre. The site comprises Victorian landscaped gardens, a large reservoir, woodlands and grasslands. Many features, both natural and built, survive from the original landscaping of the 1860s. We manage the park to maintain the existing habitats and access routes, deliver education and interpretation and provide.

Flora and fauna
Hartsholme Country Park is an area of over forty hectares containing a range of habitats including:
- Semi improved acid grassland
- Broadleaved plantation woodland
- Standing open water
- Amenity grassland
These habitats in turn support many species including nationally rare and endangered ones; species such as song thrush Turdus philomelos, bullfinch Pyrrhula pyrrhula and pipistrelle bat Pipistrellus pipistrellus.
Some of the species found here are particularly important as they are considered rare or uncommon within an urban environment and within the Lincoln area: red-eyed damselfly Erythromma najas, Essex skipper Thymelicus lineola, and kingfisher Alcedo atthis are just a few examples.
You can learn more about the species found in Hartsholme Country Park and it’s neighbour Swanholme Lakes Local Nature Reserve by visiting the Visitor Centre.
