Introduction
Food waste recycling is a new service being introduced across Lincoln in 2026, as part of the UK Government's Simpler Recycling legislation. Supporting the UK's commitment to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050. Instead of throwing food scraps into your general waste bin, you’ll soon be able to separate them for weekly collection.
This change helps reduce the amount of waste sent to Lincolnshire's Energy from Waste facility and instead sends it to a local anaerobic digestion plant. There, it's turned into renewable energy and fertiliser for local farms – reducing carbon emissions and supporting sustainable agriculture.
