Visit Lincoln and Lincoln BIG

Project Description

This project will reimagine Lincoln’s High Street using digital technology to connect people to the City’s heritage, culture, retail and leisure offer.

It will enhance the visitor experience, encourage local spend and promote a thriving City Centre through 4 key interventions:

  • Open Content Management (CMS): connect and share electronic sources of information between different businesses and make this information available to visitors in one place, putting the user at the heart of the digital journey through Lincoln

  • Smart Signage: promoting access to and interpretation of a wider range of attractions more readily

  • Light up Lincoln: delivery of planning and lighting infrastructure to showcase Lincoln’s historic assets and support the visitor economy

  • Lincoln Creates: providing grants to support digital arts installations, supporting and showcasing creative talent

The success of this project will be realised through a digitally inclusive community (residents and visitors) who are engaged in Lincoln’s retail, arts and culture; underpinned by high street businesses, artists, tourism operators, cultural champions and community groups who combine their information into a ‘digital town centre’ which delivers a world class visitor experience managed by the tourism board Visit Lincoln.

It is a city-wide scheme which over time will enhance for a wide range of beneficiaries the experience of Lincoln as a great place to live, work, visit and invest in.

Total project cost: £1,887,783
