New artificial pitches
We are very pleased to announce that our recent funding bid to the Premier League and The FA Facilities Fund and the Sport England Community Asset Fund has been successful and that we will soon bring exciting improvements to the sports facilities at Yarborough and Birchwood Leisure Centres.
Both sites will benefit from a new full-size flood-lit all weather pitch, and Yarborough Leisure Centre will also enjoy a fully refurbished athletics track. The sites play host to five a side football leagues, youth football and running clubs, and the improvements will be of huge benefit to all local sporting groups and communities. Work is expected to start in both areas in the near future and we appreciate the support and understanding of local residents. Plans have been put into place to keep disruption to a minimum at all times.
Artificial Grass pitch
Workers are levelling the stones to finish off the sub-base of the pitch and hardstanding. The acoustic wall is completed as well as the uprights for the floodlights and permanent fencing. The fence panels will be put up once the tarmac layer and synthetic carpet have been installed.
After the sub-base is completed, workers will be pouring a layer of tarmac over the top once it’s delivered on the 11th June. More pictures and information will follow.
The edges of the pitch and hardstanding have been outlined with concrete panels. Workers are laying out the stone sub-base over the area in preparation for the tarmac layer. Uprights for the permanent fencing and acoustic wall are also being installed.
The top soil has been clear from the site and workers are currently installing the drains and soakaways into the compacted subsoil. Once the drainage is in place, work can then start on the installation of the porous membrane and stone sub-base.
Hockey/Football Artificial Pitch Refurbishment
Workers have finished the pitch markings for the football, hockey and netball court. The pitch was handed over on the 5th June, once work was finished on the floodlights and the security fences were removed.
If you would like to book to this pitch, please contact Donna.Taylor@activenation.org.uk
Workers have finished installing the new synthetic carpet and are in the process of marking out the lines for football, hockey and netball. The new fence is almost complete with just the last few panels to be installed soon.
The markings, fencing and lighting will be finished next week in time for the pitch to be handed back on the 31st of May. More pictures and information to follow.
Workers have finished their inspections and are currently installing the new synthetic carpet over the top of the layer of rubber shock pad. The uprights for the fencing around the site have been erected and workers have just started on installing the new fence panels.
Yarborough Running Track Refurbishment
Work began on site this week with security fencing being set up around the perimeter. The track has been lifted in order for the tarmac base layer to be scrubbed and jet-washed. Afterwards, a survey of the base layer will be conducted to assess the porosity of the tarmac.
