The Health & Environment Private Sector Housing Enforcement Policy 2026 - 2031 provides guidance to Private Sector Housing officers so that enforcement action is taken in line with the provisions of the Renters’ Rights Act 2025, other legislation and mandatory guidance to local authorities. It sets out what owners, landlords, their agents or any other person involved in the letting or management of privately rented accommodation, and tenants of private rented sector properties, can expect from officers when dealing with non-compliance. The policy sets out the Council’s principles for enforcing and executing its duties as a Housing Authority under the relevant statute.
