The Smoke and Carbon Monoxide Alarms (England) Regulations 2015

These regulations came into force on 1st October 2015. They require all landlords to have at least one smoke alarm installed on every storey of the property and for carbon monoxide alarms to be fitted in any room containing an appliance that is burns solid fuels (e.g. coal fire, log burning stove etc.) A landlord must also ensure that these alarms are in working order at the start of each new tenancy.

City of Lincoln Council recommend the use of mains powered interlinked alarms rather than battery operated alarms due to them being more reliable. Based on the type of property, there may be cases where we may insist on interlinked alarms.
