Independent living housing

Independent Living housing

This is housing that is all under one roof, so tenants do not need to go outside to visit the communal areas of the unit.

The two Independent Living housing schemes are:

  • Derek Miller Court – Newland Street West, Lincoln
  • St Botolphs Court – High Street, Lincoln

The schemes mainly have studio flats, where there is an open plan lounge/sleeping area with a separate kitchen and bathroom (all have showers). There are some one-bedroom properties, but only a few in each scheme.

There is a good community spirit, and the tenants feel secure knowing they do not need to go outside to have company. As well having their own bathrooms, there are also some communal bathrooms with specialist baths for tenants who struggle to get in a bath, and where their carers can assist them. There are communal laundry rooms for the tenants to use for their personal laundry, and lounges for activities that go on in the scheme.
