This is housing that is all under one roof, so tenants do not need to go outside to visit the communal areas of the unit.
The Extra Care housing scheme is:
- De Wint Court – Bowden Drive, Lincoln
The scheme has a mix of one or two bedroomed flats with a lounge, kitchen area and bathroom. There are no communal laundry facilities. There is a good community spirit, and the tenants feel secure knowing they do not need to go outside to have company.
As well having their own bathrooms, there are also some communal bathrooms with specialist baths for tenants who struggle to get in a bath, and where their carers can assist them. There are communal lounges for activities in the scheme and a cafe that is open to tenants and the public 7 days a week.
There are staff on site 7 days a week covering from early morning through to the evening. There is also a care team on site to work with tenants who need extra support to remain independent.
The care team are in the scheme 24 hours a day. They are a dedicated team specific to that scheme and tenants will get a regular team of carers working with them. There is also a private consultation room where tenants can have a one-to-one meeting outside of their accommodation, but still within the safety of the unit.
