BEIS Sustainable Warmth Competition privacy notice

Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) Privacy Notice

This notice relates to data collected under the Sustainable Warmth Scheme operated by Nottingham City Council, which is funded by the Sustainable Warmth Scheme (the Scheme) run by BEIS.

The scheme connects residents with private sector installers that are contracted to deliver energy efficiency improvements to private homes.
 

Data Controllers

BEIS are joint data controllers for the purposes of the scheme along with Yorkshire Energy Services/YES Energy Solutions (YES) who are delivering the scheme on behalf of the Council.
 

Your Data

Your data will be shared with BEIS by the City of Lincoln Council as part of the Midland Net Zero Hub Consortium.
 

What we use your personal data for

Personal data is needed to support the delivery and administration of the Scheme. Your data may also be used for statistical, research and fraud prevention purposes.
 

Our lawful basis for processing the personal data

We must have a legal basis to process your personal data. Where we use personal data for the purposes for the scheme the sections of the law that apply are:

  • Public task: Processing is necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest.
  • Consent: Use of your personal data to contact you to take part in further research will be subject to your consent.
     

Who will we share your personal data with?

Data will be shared between:-

  • The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy (BEIS) and its contractors for delivery, administration and evaluation of the Scheme, statistical, research and fraud prevention purposes.
  • Ofgem and delivery partners of central and local government home energy schemes.

Using your personal information for other purposes

Your personal data may also be shared with other Government departments where necessary. We may share your data if we are required to do so by law, for example by court order or to prevent fraud or other crime.
 

Transfers of personal data to a third country

As personal data shared with BEIS will be stored on their IT infrastructure, and may be shared with their data processors Microsoft and Amazon Web Services, your data may be transferred and stored securely outside the UK.
 

How long we will retain your personal data for

Your personal data will be stored securely by BEIS for a maximum period of 25 years following the close of the Scheme. BEIS may choose to store anonymised data beyond this period. 
 

What are my rights in relation to my personal data?

You have the right to access the personal data BEIS hold about you; to request they rectify or erase your personal data; to object to or restrict processing in certain circumstances; and a right of data portability in certain circumstances.
 

Who can I complain to?

If you consider that your personal data has been misused or mishandled, you may make a complaint to the Information Commissioner, who is an independent regulator. The Information Commissioner can be contacted at:
